Each work by Maurice Ravel provides an opportunity to take the measure of his orchestral skill. The French composer is a magician of the orchestra who knows its sparkling secrets. Accompanied by Jean-Frédéric Neuburger, a performer intimately associated with the composer’s works, Tugan Sokhiev takes us down the paths of Ravel’s labyrinthan imagination with the added bonus of one of his finest heirs: Henri Dutilleux.
At the age of sixteen, Jean-Frédéric Neuburger launched upon a major career as a performer, characterized by the wide variety of his repertoire, ranging from Bach to 21st century composers. Both composer and performer, he is one of the most brilliant musicians of his generation.
