The reason Marc Delacoste loves the trout so much is because it’s beautiful, it’s so alive and it’s fished in some particularly well conserved places. He also loves its diversity: the diversity of its colors, of its behavior, of the places where you can fish it and the diversity of the ways you can fish it. And so he practices most of these techniques, even if he does confess a preference for drift fishing with natural bait, his specialty. However, he won’t refuse a few sessions of fly-fishing because, for him, the two techniques complement each other perfectly. He also appreciates the vast diversity of the places in which you can fish trout and, according to the seasons or his whims, he moves from a stream to a mountain lake, from a rushing brook to a wide river. What is he after? He wants to find those wild, still preserved reaches where he can immerse himself in nature for a few hours. From the Pyrenean Gaves to mid or high mountain lakes, Mark shows obvious pleasure in sharing his technical expertise and his passionate reading of waterways with such different aspects from one valley to another, while always seeking that perfect watery artery that is home to the trout he so desires.
